three works springing from mythopoesis. 8.1.08 |

fire alarm.

snuff the flame that still can burn
disallow the disappearance of the ever vulnerable wick
for candles are temporary as the heart,
and passions shift direction
with the arbitrary breeze, some new fuel for a different flame.
the wick is saturated with the residue of
flames from the past so that none of the
original braid remains. the new flames burn
the scar tissue instead, and when those passions
are over the only change is more blackness, more
bile in the core of the candle. eventually, the
candle is dead, like the heart. no longer will
fiery passion melt the wax or burn the core.
all that remains is an empty gap, devoid of use,
and hollow as the wind.

vigilante.
we've given up.
the hurly-burly is done,
but the battle was lost.
the scarred battlefield
is strewn with the corpses of
soldiers mindlessly sent to death.
this skirmish was a Holocaust;
those lost were innocent.
the faces of pure children
lay mottled in the field
where blood was spilled like rain.
there's no point anymore
in their fighting the inevitable.
we must submit to the
vicegrip of the dark-angel
observing from above.

in the center of the
massacre lies a pile,
a mound of the dead
sacrificed to the above.
on top of this altar
lies the great leader of heraldry.
blood seeps from his mouth
like water to feed the
roots of the flowers.
flies buzz about his face
awaiting putrefaction,
hoping for decay.
and his eyes--
so pure, so delicate!
so fierce and strong!
his eyes are locked upon
the sky. that is where he
belongs--above such
shame, such travesty.
but that dark-angel,
laughing from a heaven
that is wrongfully his:--
he has triumphed for evil,
and the good are
left behind, left
in this field to rot,
forever.
paradox[paradigm].
The indelible etchings of man
are eroding the glass that divides
dreams and reality, heaven and earth.
The red musings of the poets act as
an acid against this boundary--
science's innovations are forever
touching just the vestiges of the world beyond.
And these improvements are only possible
through collaboration of dark and light,
good and evil: extremism either way has
no place here. But this border
will never be crossed because of the buttresses
and the bolsters provided it by a zeal for hate
and a fervor for reactionary conservatism.
Change is necessary for this world,
for the realms of knowledge and though.
So thus we push as strongly as possible,
awaiting the shattering of this firmament.
We need to allow the outside in.
We are suffocating within.
Suffocating...

Let the world breathe.
Let in the light.

Shatter conservatism.
I like them.
