Resurrect the poet. 19.9.07 |

It's all so petty. this entire world, and everything in it. People really do a great job of belittling it further, and eventually, all meaning is lost. Where are we left? In an eternal Purgatory, frozen among nothing, feeling only apathy.

I want to mean something to this world. I really do. I've tried my best doing what I know how to do, writing and acting, and yet it seems to matter not to anyone. What shall I do? How can I spread the word to the masses and make my point known? How can I change lives?

Anyway. Poetry time. Rilke still tops my list of all time favorites. However, a new player is moving swiftly up the ranks--Mr. Friedrich Hölderlin.

Here's my favorite of his out of all that I've read...it's called "Human Applause":

Isn't my heart holy, more full of life's beauty,
since I fell in love? Why did you like me more

when I was prouder and wilder, more full

of words, yet emptier?

Well, the crowd likes whatever sells in the

marketplace; and no one but a slave

appreciates violent men.
Only those who
are themselves godlike
believe in the gods.
He's really amazing, and he talks about gods and love rather a lot. I suppose that comes with Classicism/Romanticism.
